Plants

Plants include trees, flowers, bushes, grasses, vines, mosses and ferns. There are about 350,000 species of plant. Unlike animals, plants obtain most of their energy from sunlight via a process called photosynthesis. Plants are important because they are the ultimate source of food energy for nearly all animals.

The cultivation of plants for food and for decoration is Horticulture. The study of plants is called Botany. A person who studies plants is called a Botanist.
