Buddhas of Bamiyan
The Buddhas of Bamiyan were two large statues of Buddha carved into the side of a cliff in Afghanistan. Archeologists believe the statues were built about 2,000 years ago. Unfortunately, the statues were destroyed in March 2001 by the Taliban, followers of Islam not Bhuddism.
