Pollution and Environmental Damage

Pollution is caused by the release of any chemical, physical, biological or radioactive contaminant into the environment. Pollution is usually harmful to animals and plants. Examples of pollution include:
  • vehicle exhaust emissions
  • oil spills
  • the dumping of industrial wastes
  • the overuse of pesticides and chemical fertilisers
