How We Collect Water

People collect water in many different ways. For example, some people:
  • have water supplied to their homes. Water stored in reservoirs is piped to their homes. All they have to do is turn on a tap.
  • collect the rain that falls onto the roof of their house. They store it in tanks, and pump it through water pipes to their homes.
  • collect water from streams, rivers or lakes, using buckets or other containers.
  • get their water from under the ground. Some dig wells and use buckets; others use machinery to pump the water up.
