Snakes

All snakes have scales, which are covered by skin. Snakes do not have legs. There are about 2,700 species of snake.

Some snakes, such as rattlesnakes and cobras, are venomous, meaning they kill their prey with poison called venom. Other snakes, such as pythons and boas, are not venomous. They kill their prey by constricting or squeezing it. They do not crush their prey to death, but suffocate it.
