Reptiles

There are about 7,000 species of reptile.
  • All reptiles are cool-blooded animals. This means their body temperature is similar to that of their environment.
  • Some reptiles, such as iguanas, have legs. Others do not.
  • All reptiles have dry skin covered with scales or rough plates.
  • Reptiles either lay eggs with hard shells, or the young hatch from soft-shelled eggs held inside the parent's mouth.
