Southern Encounter Aquarium and Kiwi House

Southern Encounter Aquarium and Kiwi House operates as a charitable trust under Orana Wildlife Trust, and as such holds education and conservation as a prime focus.

Through advocacy, both New Zealanders and overseas visitors alike can become familiar with our indigenous flora and fauna, and learn about the issues that threaten their existence. By coming into contact with animals such as our endangered North Island Brown Kiwi and our shy native freshwater fishes, people are able to relate to them and their potential plight.
