Auckland Zoo

Auckland Zoological Park in New Zealand, which opened in 1922, is situated next to Western Springs, not far from Auckland City's central business district. It displays 200 different animal species in a variety of simulated habitats.

In partnership and collaboration with many other organisations and individuals, the Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund (AZCF) supports a number of conservation programs, both overseas and in New Zealand. The currently supported overseas projects include a turtle and tortoise programme in Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam and the Sumatran Orangutan Project in Sumatra.

The Discovery and Learning team promotes the Zoo as a living classroom. It provides experienced, qualified, specialist educators; curriculum based education; teaching areas designed to represent different ecosystems; and appropriate assistance with zoo/conservation related topics.
